Forever 21 Shirt Hype. -____-

I guess I'm feeling "bloggy" today, but I feel the need to shed my 50 cents on this picture that's gotten alot of attention in the natural hair blogging community.

Frankly, I don't find this an injustice. Honestly, its just a shirt. It doesn't matter if your dark skin, light skin, mexican, brazilian, british..etc. We should all love our hair! I highly doubt this shirt marketed exclusively to black females. I am not intetionally undermining the fact that the girl is seemingly lighter than the original one from the video. But honestly, it's not an issue unless you make it an issue for yourself. Black women aren't the only ones with curly hair. Its a cute shirt, and I would by it guilt-free!

I am more proud of the fact that black women all around are accepting the hair that grows out of their head. I also find it ignorant when people try to hate on those black women that continue to relax their hair. Do what you want, its YOUR hair. I've come to embrace it all. Relaxed hair is just as apart of African-American culture as natural hair is coming to be. I'm okay with that.

If you wanna watch the original video to see the original girl just go to YouTube and type in "i love my hair sesame street"...

Any thoughts?

New month, new challenge...style #1

Every new month brings about the opportunity to make a new challenge. In my opinion a challenge constitutes of doing something that is ACTUALLY challenging. For this month, I plan to figure out 20 protective hairstyles. Up to this point in my natural hair journey my hair has been particularly short, and it was difficult to find styles that protected my ends. So I really have been wearing my hair out and down....

Take Saturday for example,

I loved my hair, it was large (for its length) but the ends were bullied around by the wind. By Saturday night, my ends were dry and "frazzled" looking. :( So, I'm sad to say, I NEED protective styling. Hopefully I'll discover some that I can adapt to.

How I feel about protective styling is very simple. Its boring. The styles are usually pressed against your head and you cant really show off your dramatic hair the way you want to...

The pictures above are of my hair today. It WAS a braid out that I've been stretching. (it might be called the kimmaymethod?)

OH! and those goody clips are the truth. My hair is THICK and it clipped with no problem!

but, Here's to the first of my attempt at wearing my hair in protective styling 90% of the time. :/ I like the style I'm wearing today. It could be neater, but I'm still learning. :)
