My "capturation" of life.

Reflections, babbling, etc.
I literally tweet every 5 months. That's unfortunate. But anyways, I have several different thoughts in several different topics but every-time I'm ready to share them, I'm so overloaded with information that I can't narrow it down to just one blog post. My brain starts processing way faster than I could type! But anyways, I love this blog thing, its so cool to look back years ago and see what I was talking about then compared to what I tall about now. My hair ha become less of an obsession. I've learned how to manage it, and I guess because I'm comfortable with it now, I don't feel the need to seek out YT tutorials or seek inspiration. I have become my own inspiration and I'm still taking steps to ensure that I attain every hair goal I originally set out to attain. :-)
In other news, the heat has really been applied school wise. I was accepted LAST minute into the nursing program. It was both a shock and a blessing. (ultimately it was an act of God) But it's been great, nothing really brings true joy in one's life besides doing exactly what you feel you were created to do. Nursing is just that to me. So far, I enjoy every aspect of it! Although as I look forward to 4 more semesters, there are bound to be moment that shock me and possibly make me want to change my course of study. But that's a bridge I'll cross when I get there.
I can't wait to see what life has to offer over the next few years. I feel as if life I just starting and so far in 2012, I see many thing coming into full circle for myself and many others close to me. There will be many stories to tell and hopefully I will write about them as they happen as opposed to waiting 5 months from now to say something.
But until then! -be you.

BLOGGING CONFESSIONS *WOMP*
I'm am not as dedicated to this blog as I would like to be. I mean I think about it EVERY day, and I really do try to make an effort to keep up post but..its HARD. Anyways, strangely I have been keeping up with my summer challenge...
....*five months go by* (literally)
Here's to that unfinished post right there...lol. I lost my BB and was therefore unable to upload ANY of the pictures from my summer challenge. But..as an update, I did keep up with the challenge and was able to prevent over all breakage to my hair without he use of weave, braids, etc.. I have reached between 8-9 inches of hair growth since my BC and I'm so glad! I hope to post a picture or two soon..:)
Hopefully, I'll be back to visit this blog more often considering I have easier access to it now.
Till next time,

Forever 21 Shirt Hype. -____-

I guess I'm feeling "bloggy" today, but I feel the need to shed my 50 cents on this picture that's gotten alot of attention in the natural hair blogging community.
Frankly, I don't find this an injustice. Honestly, its just a shirt. It doesn't matter if your dark skin, light skin, mexican, brazilian, british..etc. We should all love our hair! I highly doubt this shirt marketed exclusively to black females. I am not intetionally undermining the fact that the girl is seemingly lighter than the original one from the video. But honestly, it's not an issue unless you make it an issue for yourself. Black women aren't the only ones with curly hair. Its a cute shirt, and I would by it guilt-free!
I am more proud of the fact that black women all around are accepting the hair that grows out of their head. I also find it ignorant when people try to hate on those black women that continue to relax their hair. Do what you want, its YOUR hair. I've come to embrace it all. Relaxed hair is just as apart of African-American culture as natural hair is coming to be. I'm okay with that.
If you wanna watch the original video to see the original girl just go to YouTube and type in "i love my hair sesame street"...
Any thoughts?
New month, new challenge...style #1
Every new month brings about the opportunity to make a new challenge. In my opinion a challenge constitutes of doing something that is ACTUALLY challenging. For this month, I plan to figure out 20 protective hairstyles. Up to this point in my natural hair journey my hair has been particularly short, and it was difficult to find styles that protected my ends. So I really have been wearing my hair out and down....
Take Saturday for example,
I loved my hair, it was large (for its length) but the ends were bullied around by the wind. By Saturday night, my ends were dry and "frazzled" looking. :( So, I'm sad to say, I NEED protective styling. Hopefully I'll discover some that I can adapt to.

How I feel about protective styling is very simple. Its boring. The styles are usually pressed against your head and you cant really show off your dramatic hair the way you want to...
The pictures above are of my hair today. It WAS a braid out that I've been stretching. (it might be called the kimmaymethod?)
OH! and those goody clips are the truth. My hair is THICK and it clipped with no problem!
but, Here's to the first of my attempt at wearing my hair in protective styling 90% of the time. :/ I like the style I'm wearing today. It could be neater, but I'm still learning. :)

ooh! excitement, but old pictures...

That picture up there is from spring break. I was really just playing around in my hair after i took down a flat twist out. This blog is not necessarily about that hairstyle, i'm just impressed with the growth. haha!
butt....[sidebar] This past weekend I attempted a braid out. It was awesome. For the first time it had that little shake to it. :) I once again fell in love with my natural hair all over again! It was bouncy. lovely and I took pictures but my boyfriend's computer crashed! :( *breaks into tears* anyways, hopefully i can do it again, and put it on here, (although i'm convinced nobody is actually reading this, haha!). But yea. It was cool.
more details coming soon.....

Ranting, Raving, Natural Hair...all that..
As I sit here with this deep conditioner in my hair, I cant help but think of how much I hate not finishing things. I started a channel on Youtube, only really because I enjoyed watching other people's videos. I really don't enjoy making videos. But I do enjoy blogging. I think I'm gonna stick to blogging.
Here's an interesting fact. My last post was last month on this exact day! Yay me! That means it's only been a month since I last blogged and I don't feel that bad. God also blessed me with another birthday on Monday. *applause* That was a day of interestingness.
In NaturalHair News....
I'm a little bit under the naps this week because I blew dried my hair last week and it felt all fried and dried, and would moisturize for anything. It's also becoming clear to me that my hair STRONGLY dislikes braids! Or maybe I just don't do them right?? Hmm, Idk. As far as length goes. I'm approaching 5 inches in most places of my hair, which indicates to me that I am still where I should be for hair growth.
Well, I have been meaning to get around to blogging and I'm glad I did. Except I feel like I'm leaving something out that I REALLY meant to put on here! Oh well.
Until next time,
Which is when I get another idea....

I've Figured It Out!

As many of you know, or can conclusively derive from my general appearance and profiles. I have GONE natural. (to be politically correct, of course) :) Well, this endeavor has been, at its best, an EXTREME learning experience. There is so much that US (blacks) don't understand about out hair. Anywho, this is a review of a book that I finished reading this morning. It was recommended by kimmaytube (her you tube name). I was so impressed by her use of this book as a reference in guiding her hair growth that I thought to myself, "it must SURELY work for me!"
First, i would like to say that my hair has NEVER been more than a few inches long. (to be exact, I'm talking in the 5-6 inch range at its best!) That has been very disheartening for me at times because it has been said to me that some people's hair just CANT GROW! In fact, to take that notion a tad farther I have one person in mind RIGHT now who persistently subjects there hair to all sorts of weave because here hair is "impossible to grow". PERHAPS that is why I was able to identify with this book in such a major way! i STRONGLY RECOMMEND that ALL BLACK WOMEN READ THIS! and by that, i am in no way trying to imply that it is the "black hair bible". I am trying to say that it would be a good read an investment. Even if your skeptical about some of the things she has to say (which I hope to get around to in a minute) still remain aware that there may be some invonvenient facts she lists that you might need to adjust in your hair care regimen in order to obtain an OPTIMUM hair growth result!
Now, for some of the highlights I enjoyed from her book, (just to name a few)
*this is not Cliff Notes/Sparknotes, get the book!*
REASON #1:"Its an EASY read" It might seriously take you 4 hours to read it.
REASONE#2: "Its well organized" YouTube is a great invention, but I honestly get weary of browsing through all the videos just to find a complete train of thought that tis packed with information about what and WHY i should do to my hair and what I should do.
REASON #3: "I would suggest that its well SUPPORTED" This book is backed with facts and its easy to find evidence for her claims.
REASON #4: "What do you have to LOSE?" I mean seriously, unless your hair is touching your butt and you have CHOSEN to wear your hair at the length it is within tha last year or so (or you have fine/oily hair) you can only gain hair by trying some of the rules she suggests. It also cant hurt to learn a little more about black hair. Read a BOOK! Free YOURSELF! As far as I'm concerned, I can be as skeptical as I want of some of her claims, but since I have failed at growing my hair so may times before, maybe its time to change some habits.
So with those four reasons I strongly encourage you to READ THIS BOOK! You can find it at Amazon. Just do a search for the author.
Perhaps in a later blog I will express some of the suggestions she made that I have applied to my personal hair regimen.
See ya then,
-CO
